The one that would break my daddy would be the Barney song. My daddy really hates that show. My sister likes it, but my daddy doesn't let her watch it too often. Barney and the Teletubbies can really get under my daddy's skin. And Barry Manilow? Argghh. Anyone would give up state secrets if they were tortured with Copacabana or I Write The Songs.
And speaking of bad music. My daddy and I have been doing some research for out 2010 mega-monster mix-tape. We've been going back through the past 50 years listening and boogeying down to some great tunes while coming up with our list of songs. During our research we came across this top ten list of 1977.

OMG!! Did everyone give their taste in music a sabbatical that year? The only song on this list that even remotely would have a chance of being on our mix tape would be ABBA. And speaking of them, congratulations to the Swedish pop group for being selected today to be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Joining them will be Jimmy Cliff (who has one song on our list) The Hollies (Long Cool Woman in A Black Dress is in the running to be on the list - you'll have to wait and see if it makes it) Genesis (no way Jose) AND THE STOOGES!! (yes, Iggy and The Stooges rock the house!!) I hope they do Search And Destroy during the induction.
Even though the top ten list above for 1977 was filled with extremely bad songs, there were some great songs that year that made our list (they just weren't being played on the radio according to my daddy who had just graduated from high school the year before and was driving around in his Chevy Belair listening to Rockaway Beach by The Ramones.) Other great artists who should have been in the top ten that year were The Clash and Elvis Costello and The Talking Heads. But NO!! Instead everyone was listening to Glen Campbell, Andy Gibb and Debby Boone. Makes me want to puke up my chocolate milk.
So even though there was some great music in 1977, thanks to the top ten list of that year, my daddy and I are declaring it the worst year ever for rock music.
That's all for today.
Bubby Mac signing off.
