Kewl New BAnd blog #2

The name of the kewl new band for this week is Surfer Blood. My daddy says that the band name reminds him of some weird combination of Beach Boys and Charles Manson. I asked him if Charles was a relative of Marilyn Manson and he told me no. He said he didn't want to talk about Charles Manson, because he was one of the worst monsters of the twentieth century.

All of this is apropos of nothing, just me blabbing on about things my daddy and I talk about. I guess I might be too young to know about serial killers, but I suppose I would hear about the messed-up evil things humans do to each other sooner or later.

On a brighter note, Surfer Blood really is a kewl new band. They are from West Palm Beach and their music does sound like a mixture of surf rock and modern indie rock. My daddy and I are really digging this band. Here is a video of their song called "Swim".

"Swim" by Surfer Blood.

And since I began this blog on a downer note, talking about the evil side of human behavior, I want to give equal time to the better qualities of the human race. It is hard sometimes to see the good news that is happening out there, what with the media coverage acting like sharks swarming every time there is a major disaster or crime wave or celebrity scandal, but if you look hard enough you can see the good things that people are doing for each other. If you have any trouble finding such evidence, check out websites like:

Amnesty International

or

choice HUMANITARIAN

or

Volunteers of America

Since I have got this far into this manifesto,  I am going to add a second band to the blog this week, another great new band called Alberta Cross. And no they are not from Canada but rather from London. And no they are not exactly new because their latest CD is their second. They have a great sound, sort of a cross between The Band and Kings of Leon. My daddy and I think this song called "ATX" really rocks. Check it out and let me know what you think.

"ATX" by Alberta Cross.

That's all for this week's kewl new band blog. I'll try to begin next week's blog on a lighter note.

So until then, this is Bubby Mac signing out and reminding you that spring is just around the corner. I can't wait for the first thunderstorm of the season.
